Medium integration tokens

Medium no longer issues new integration tokens to most accounts. If you already have one, it keeps working with Docswrite. Medium also has no edit API: publishing the same doc again creates a new story.

Cross-post to Medium without breaking the formatting

Medium is a good place to reach new readers, and a slow place to paste an article into. Docswrite publishes the doc for you, headings and images included, and can point the canonical URL back to your own blog.

Medium connects with an integration token. Medium stopped issuing new integration tokens to most accounts, so this works if you already have one; existing tokens keep working.

How it works

How to publish Google Docs to Medium

You need an existing Medium integration token.

  1. 01

    Find your integration token

In Medium open Settings → Security and apps → Integration tokens and copy your token.

  2. 02

    Connect Medium

Paste the token in Docswrite. It is verified before the connection is saved.

  3. 03

    Publish, draft or schedule

Add up to three tags and a canonical URL, then publish publicly, as unlisted, as a draft, or at a scheduled time.

Features

What you get on Medium

  • Formatting kept

Headings, lists, links and images are sent as HTML, with the title on top.

  • Canonical URL

Credit the original post on your own site so search engines rank it.

  • Tags

Medium uses the first three tags (25 characters each).

  • Scheduling

Medium has no scheduling API, so the Docswrite scheduler publishes at the time you pick.

Teams that stopped copy-pasting

I wish you could have seen the excitement on my employee's face when we sent a document. You've created a really great solution to a huge problem.

Michael GrantFounder, Get Current Studio

Docswrite is great. Have been playing around with it for the last week or so, and we are currently evaluating using it for our entire portfolio of clients (~250 blogs a month) as publishing currently takes up a lot of our team's time.

Milena ManolovaCOO, Team Color Codes

We managed to grow our daily traffic with 10% for the first month with docswrite! This really saves us a ton of manual work.

FAQ

Google Docs to Medium FAQs

Can I still get a Medium integration token?
Medium stopped issuing new integration tokens to most accounts. Docswrite works with a token you already have (Settings → Security and apps → Integration tokens).
Can I publish unlisted stories?
Yes. Publish as public, unlisted (only people with the link can read it) or as a draft.
Can I edit a Medium story from Google Docs?
No. Medium has no edit API, so publishing the same doc again creates a new story. Edit published stories on Medium.
Can I schedule a Medium story?
Yes. Docswrite publishes it at the time you choose, since Medium itself has no scheduling API.
